Background

1974: GIPRA, Groupement des Industriels de la Plasturgie Rhône-Alpes Auvergne Bourgogne (Rhône-Alpes Auvergne Bourgogne Plastics Industry Group) creates the CFP, Centre de Formation de la plasturgie à Lyon (Lyon Plastics training Centre). Cutting-edge equipment and teaching staff from industry ensure that the CFP provides professional-level training fulfilling industry needs.

1987: GIPRA collaborates with the Regional Council to plan the opening of a training centre for apprentices in plastics, concentrating on training to CAP level.

1989: BEP (Vocational Education Certificate) section established. Professional Baccalaureat in plastics set-up.

1991: BTS (Advanced Technician Certificate, equivalent to Higher National Diploma) in plastics established.

1995: CIRFAP established: Centre Inter Régional de Formation Alternée de la Plasturgie - Inter-regional Vocational Plastics Training Centre in Lyon. CIRFAP offers apprenticeship training courses in plastics to young adults.

The CFP continues providing higher training expertise for both industry employees and job seekers through diploma-orientated training.

1998: Advanced Technician Diploma, Specialisation in Composite Materials ("Technicien supérieur spécialiste des matériaux composites"), set up in collaboration with compositec, Bourget du Lac.

1999: Plastics Engineering Diploma established in association with ITECH, Ecully, Lyon.

2002: Professional BSc in plastics

More than 95% of CIRFAP apprentices obtain their degree and nearly 100% of them find a job.
